Commissioning for a reliable induction process

An induction installation only performs optimally when the generator, outdoor circuit, induction coil, cooling, pyrometry, process settings, and user knowledge are properly aligned.
RF HEATING CONSULT

The Problem

Not just connecting, but starting up with reliable processes.

With induction heating, the combination of technology and process knowledge determines the final result. Incorrect coil spacing, insufficient cooling water flow rate, erroneous temperature measurement, or unclear operation can lead to power loss, malfunctions, or varying product quality.
  • Checking generator, outer circuit, and HF connections
  • Adjustment of induction coil, workpiece position, and fixture
  • Checking cooling water, flow, pressure, and temperature, setting power, frequency, time, and temperature control
  • Commissioning of induction coil with terminal arrangement and generator

Approach

From installation to reproducible production

The approach is practical and process-oriented: first check, then adjust, test, document, and hand over to the users.
1

Technical inspection

We inspect the generator, outer circuit, water cooling, HF cables, coil load, safety, and measuring equipment before the process is loaded.
2

Process adjustment

We optimize power, frequency, warm-up time, coil position, temperature window, cycle time, and reproducibility.
3

Validation

Using real workpieces, we check the thermal image, process stability, operation, and transfer to production.

Procedure

Commissioning in clear steps

A structured start-up prevents trial-and-error and makes the induction process understandable for operators, technical service, and process managers.

Preparation

Application data, workpiece, target temperature, cooling, and installation structure.

Check

Generator, coil, outer circuit, cables, flow, pressure, and safety.

Start-up

Start at low power, build up parameters, and assess process response.

Training

Instruct users on operation, error messages, and process boundaries.

Handover

Record practical settings, points of attention, and follow-up advice.
Werkwijze

Scholing & kennisoverdracht

Users must understand what is happening.

A reliable installation requires people who understand the basics of induction heating, temperature measurement, and process limits. Therefore, we include user training and theoretical knowledge transfer in the commissioning.

Operators

Operation, recipe selection, start/stop, error messages, safety, and daily checks.

Technical Service

Cooling, flow, connections, coil load, maintenance, and fault analysis.

Process Engineering

Influence of frequency, power, coil spacing, product geometry, and cycle time.

Temperature Measurement

Pyrometer position, emission, measuring surface, thermocouples, and closed-loop control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Induction heating commissioning: practical questions

What is included in commissioning?
Inspection of the installation, generator start-up and cooling, adjustment of coil and workpiece, setting of process parameters, temperature measurement, testing with real products, and instruction of users.
Is user training included?
Yes, where desired, we provide practical training for operators, technical service staff, and process managers. In doing so, we combine operation with the transfer of theoretical knowledge regarding induction heating.
Can you also readjust an existing installation?
Yes. In the event of product changes, new coils, process problems, or downtime, we can assess an existing induction installation, readjust it, and advise on practical improvements.
Is a process test required beforehand?
Not always. However, for critical products, short cycle times, or unknown material properties, a process test is strongly recommended before the installation is permanently configured.
